Family says hit-and-run victim wanted to change the world

Arlington police are looking for the SUV that was involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 20-year-old University of Texas – Arlington student.

Kelly Walters was in a crosswalk when she was struck and killed at the intersection of Northeast Green Oaks Boulevard and Burney Road.

Security video from a nearby insurance office shows people stopping to help her. Arlington police are now taking a closer look at that video to see if the suspect's vehicle was caught on camera.

It's described as an older model dark-colored domestic SUV. It might have front-end damage

Walters' family says she was a born leader. She was motivated to make a difference in the world.

When she was in the first grade Walters wrote a letter to President Bill Clinton explaining why she would be a good president. The next year her family says she was deeply affected by the 9-11 attacks.

She died a week before she could leave for a human rights mission to Africa.
