Southbound 75 in Richardson reopens after bad crash

All lanes of southbound U.S. Highway 75 at the Plano/Richardson border have reopened following a fatal overnight crash. Police still haven't said how many people were involved or how many were killed.

All southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 near the Plano/Richardson border are back open more than nine hours after a fiery and fatal crash involving multiple vehicles.

The crash happened just before midnight in the 3400 block of the North Central Expressway near the George W. Bush Turnpike intersection.

Officials have not disclosed the number of fatalities or the cause of the crash, but FOX 4 reporters saw a line of ambulances at the site.

The reporters at the scene also saw multiple wrecked vehicles. At least two cars had severe damage, with their frames demolished.

The crash scene stretched about a quarter-mile, and the investigation continued several hours into the morning rush hour.

It caused significant traffic trouble for people commuting south from Plano, Allen, and McKinney.

Elizabeth Ferguson was on her lunch break when she was randomly clobbered her head with a blunt object and knocked unconscious. "Somebody was apparently going to get hurt that day, and I happened to be the one who was injured."

The highway fully reopened just before 9 a.m. on Friday morning.

Both Richardson and Plano police were working on the investigation.
