Dallas shooting: Child dies one month after East Oak Cliff shooting

A child has died more than a month after a shooting in Dallas' east Oak Cliff neighborhood.

The Backstory: On the night of Nov. 22, a 7-year-old girl was shot while in a car on Wilhurt Avenue, near E Illinois Avenue, according to police.

The 7-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

On Dec. 2, Davon Sewell, 18, and a juvenile were arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

On Dec. 8, Jaden Watson, 18, was also arrested in connection to the shooting in Balch Springs. He was also charged with aggravated assault.

An arrest warrant affidavit says that a white Honda Civic pulled alongside the vehicle with the child. Two suspects in the back seat of a vehicle opened fire on the vehicle.

What We Know: On Dec. 26, the child died from her injuries.

Now, the aggravated assault charges have been upgraded to capital murder.

What We Don't Know: Police have not given an idea of what led up to the shooting or the intended target.
