Man reportedly waving gun at passing cars shot by Dallas police officers
DALLAS - A man who was waving a gun at people nearby in Far East Dallas was shot after police say he pointed his gun at responding Dallas police officers.

What we know:
The shooting happened Tuesday afternoon near Centerville and Shiloh roads, east of White Rock Lake and about a block away from Casa View Elementary.
Police say they received several 911 calls around 3:20 p.m. about a man waving his gun around at people nearby and passing cars.
When officers arrived, police say they gave the man several verbal commands to drop his weapons, but he did not comply. Police say he pointed his gun at officers, and officers shot him. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
"The officers immediately provided first aid on the suspect until Dallas Fire Rescue arrived," said Interim Dallas Police Chief Michael Igo.
No other injuries were reported.
The shooting happened one block away from an elementary school, but Dallas ISD said it was not impacted since classes had already been gone for the day.
What we don't know:
Police have not released the suspect's name.
It's unclear why he was in the middle of the street with a gun in the first place.
SKY 4 spotted two guns on the road in the area of the shooting, including a long gun. However, police have not explicitly said that they both belong to the suspect.
What's next:
Dallas police did not answer any questions during Tuesday's update. They plan to hold a full media briefing "in the coming days." It's unclear when police will release the body camera footage.
