Dallas police officer killed, 2 hurt in shooting
Investigators are reviewing video footage from the Oak Cliff Community Center of the shooting that killed an officer overnight. Two other officers were injured.
DALLAS - Dallas police officer Darron Burks was killed, and two other officers were injured in a shooting late Thursday night.
City and state leaders showed their support for the officers' families and the Dallas Police Department.

A Dallas police officer was killed and two other officers were hurt in a shooting in Oak Cliff on Thursday night. The suspect died at the end of a police chase that ended on I-35E in Lewisville.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott
Texas Governor Greg Abbott posted that the state is grieving for the family and loved ones of the officer that was killed and is praying for the recovery of the officers that were injured.
"Our hearts are with Dallas PD & the entire Dallas community," said Abbott.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson called the shooting "devastating" in a statement.
"Dallas has lost a hero. We all grieve with the officer’s family today, and we pray for a full and swift recovery for the two officers who were wounded. This is devastating. In Dallas, we put public safety first. We stand up to violent criminals. We ask our police officers to do dangerous work so the rest of us can sleep peacefully. These dedicated public servants do so with grace, honor, respect, humility and extraordinary courage. And this attack on three of our protectors is nothing short of an attack on our city, our families, and our way of life. We must continue their work to stop violence in our communities. We must never forget their sacrifice. And we must take the time to come together and lift each other up as we mourn our fallen."

Councilwoman Carolyn King Arnold on Dallas PD shooting
Dallas City Councilwoman Carolyn King Arnold speaks about the shooting that killed one Dallas police officer and injured two others.
Dallas City Councilwoman Carolyn King Arnold, who represents the area of Oak Cliff where the shooting occurred, spoke to FOX 4 hours after the shooting.
"It is a stab in the heart today to see something like this," Arnold said.
The councilwoman says the Oak Cliff Community Center, where the shooting happened, has been a place for people to get away from violence.
Arnold also said her heart breaks for the officer's family.
"My heart goes out to the family. I know that I speak for this community, I speak for the city leaders, we love you, we want to support you how we can," Arnold said.
Congressman Colin Allred
Dallas Congressman and Democratic Senate candidate Colin Allred said his heart is going out to Dallas PD.
"The sacrifice of these brave officers is a debt we can never repay," wrote Allred.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sent his thoughts and prayers to the family of the fallen officer.
"As always, our continued prayers for all of the law enforcement community who graciously protect and serve us all selflessly each and every day," Paxton said.
Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett
US Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-Dallas) said she was heartbroken to learn of the fatal shooting.
Later in the day, she learned it was her friend, Darron Burks.
"I had no idea that last night, my friend, a funny, salt of the earth, kind soul, had selflessly become Officer Burks & lost his life in the line of duty," wrote Crockett.
She thanked Burks for his service and friendship.
Crockett also urged people to text a friend and get an update on their lives.

US Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne (R- ) called the shooting "heartbreaking."

State Rep. Ana-Maria Ramos (D-Dallas) said the people Dallas Police Department risks everything to protect the community.
"We owe them not just our gratitude but our unwavering support for the resources they need," said Ramos.
State Rep. Jared Patterson
State Rep. Jared Patterson (R-Frisco) sent prayers to those affected.
"These incredible tragedies are a reminder that our first responders put their lives on the line each and every time they begin a shift," Patterson wrote.

State Rep. Jeff Leach (R-McKinney) says hearts from across the state are with the officers.
State Sen. Tan Parker
State Senator Tan Parker (R-Flower Mound) said he is "deeply saddened" by the shooting.
"Please pray for the family, friends, and fellow officers who are hurting and mourning," Parker said.
