Dallas hotel manager who allowed gang members to sell drugs sentenced to 6+ years in prison
DALLAS - A Dallas hotel manager who allowed drug dealers to operate in the building was sentenced to more than 6 years in prison.
Orenthal James "OJ" Vance, 44, used to be the property manager of the Extended Stay America hotel on Vantage Point Drive in Dallas.
Prosecutors say Vance "routinely" tipped off drug traffickers when law enforcement would raid the hotel.
The drug dealers were often members of the gang the "Hamilton Park Posse."
Court documents show Vance rented rooms to know drug dealers and was paid in cash for putting them in rooms listed as unoccupied, or under names that were fake or belonged to dead people.
Police say cooperating defendants said the "majority" of rooms at the Vantage Point were used for criminal activity.
Vance allegedly had video on his phone of a woman being kicked and beaten at the hotel, another of a man on the ground being beaten in the parking lot and sources told law enforcement that Vance asked for help moving a dead body off the property.
Vance was charged in July 2022, pleaded guilty in July 2024 and was sentenced to 75 months in federal prison on Wednesday.
