Dallas to open Fair Park shelter ahead of freezing temps

The City of Dallas will open a building in Fair Park for people looking to get out of the cold during next week's cold blast.

What We Know: A  temporary inclement weather shelter will be activated at the Grand Place Building in Fair Park at 3701 Grand Avenue in Dallas.

The shelter will open on Sunday, Jan. 5 and will open for any other days that meet the criteria for the week.

The shelter will be open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, January 5 and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the days after that.

What We Don't Know: We don't know how many days the shelter will be open. Dallas' Office of Homeless Solutions activates a temporary weather event if it is forecast to be below 36 degrees in wet weather, or 32 degrees in dry weather for 3 hours or longer between 4 and 8 p.m.
