Dallas weather: Freezing temperatures expected next week. Will we see snow?

Brace yourself, DFW, the cold is coming!

A cold front is expected to move through our area on Sunday, and we are going to see freezing temperatures next week.

Saturday Forecast: Mild, Chance of Drizzle

Clouds moved in overnight, keeping temperatures from falling this morning. Those same clouds will keep us from getting much warmer through the day.

Temperatures are expected to top out in the low 60s.

It will also be humid with winds from the south pulling up moisture from the Gulf.

There is a possibility for some drizzle in the late afternoon to evening hours, but the chances are low.

Sunday Forecast: Cold front moves through

The cold front will move through North Texas on Sunday morning.

The front will reach areas to our northwest areas before sunrise.

The winds will crank up for North Texas as the front moves through our area. There is a chance we could see some rain and storms to our east, but the chances are limited.

At sunrise, temperatures will in the low 60s. By the afternoon, temperatures will be in the 30s or 40s.

By Sunday night, wind chills will be in the 20s.

Monday Forecast: Freezing Temps, Dangerous Wind Chills

Temperatures will be below freezing on Monday morning and the wind will make it feel even colder.

Wind chills will be in the single digits or teens depending on where you live.

It will be dangerously cold.

Temperatures will climb back above freezing in the afternoon, with highs expected in the upper 30s.

Will it snow?

Many people are asking if we will see snow in relation to this cold blast.

The storm system that could impact North Texas Thursday into Friday is still a small disturbance in the Pacific as of Saturday. It's expected to grow on Sunday, at which point we'll have a much better idea of the track and intensity.

Based on today's data, North Texas would be in for at least some precipitation Thursday before exiting early Friday.

Today's data, which is almost guaranteed to change by Monday, would put a large part of our area in the wintry mix camp.

That could mean anything from cold rain to rain and sleet, rain and snow or snow and sleet.

Areas north of DFW would have the better chance for snow, while areas to the south would see more rain.

Ice is looking less likely.

7-Day Forecast

The low temperatures are expected to stay below freezing through at least Friday.
