The FDA authorized the emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine last month for children as young as five. The vaccine was found to be 90.7 percent effective in preventing COVID-19 in children ages 5-11. The study looked at 31 hundred children in that age group who reported no serious side effects.
The vaccine is similar to the adult version, with two doses three weeks apart. But it is a lower dose than those used for people 12 and up.
