Ceremony honors fallen Dallas County sheriff's deputies
A crowd gathered in downtown Dallas for a ceremony honoring fallen Dallas County sheriff's deputies.
The event at Founders Plaza on Friday afternoon was part of National Police Week. Interim Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown asked citizens not to forget their sacrifice.
“Today, as we honor our fallen, may we vow to keep their memory and the reason for their sacrifice alive. Alive in how we walk, alive in how we talk, alive in how we carry the banner for which they gave their lives,” Brown said.
Officials said 20 Dallas County Sheriff's Deputies have died in the line of duty since 1871.
