Timberview HS shooting survivor killed in Arlington

Zacchaeus Selby, a 19-year-old man who survived the 2021 school shooting at Timberview High, was shot and killed Monday at an Arlington apartment complex parking lot.

A 19-year-old man who survived a 2021 school shooting at Timberview High School in Arlington was shot and killed Monday evening in the parking lot of an Arlington apartment complex.

What we know:

Police responded to a shooting call in the 2400 block of Laurelwood Drive shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday.

When officers arrived, they found the victim lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

The victim was identified as 19-year-old Zacchaeus Selby-Mukum.

Zacchaeus 'Zac' Selby appears in court in 2023 for the trial of Timothy Simpkins. Simpkins was sentenced to 12 years in prison after shooting then 15-year-old Selby in a Timberview High School classroom.

Witnesses reported hearing an argument moments before gunshots rang out, but they didn't see the shooting itself.

No arrests have been made,

What we don't know:

It is unclear if there was one shooter or multiple suspects. Police did not release any information about a possible suspect.

Police have not identified a motive but said they have not ruled out the possibility of high-risk activity being involved.

"We use that term to describe any kind of illicit activity that could be is drug sales sales of any illegal contraband., anything like that. We do believe that it’s related to that kind of activity. We’re just not prepared to explain what that is until we complete our investigation," said Arlington Police Sgt. Alex Rosado. "We’re looking for witnesses. We’re getting warrants for cell phones and canvassing the area for any Ring-type doorbell video to see what we can find. And right now, we’re still in the process of doing all of that."
At this time, there's no evidence to suggest Monday night's shooting was related to the 2021 Timberview High School shooting. However, police say they are not ruling anything out.
