Aretha Franklin funeral to include T.D. Jakes, Minnie's Food Pantry Founder
DALLAS - Bishop T. D. Jakes will be among the people who speak at Aretha Franklin’s funeral.
T. D. Jakes Ministries spokeswoman Regina Lewis told FOX 4 News Bishop Jakes is looking forward to being a part of the home-going ceremony and celebration.
Minnie’s Food Pantry founder Cheryl Jackson will also attend Franklin's funeral. Jackson, who grew up as an adoring fan of the Queen of Soul, will travel to Detroit to pay her respects and to serve as a correspondent for the gospel-based media outlet The Word Network.
Jackson said she will interview notables who are there to honor Franklin’s life and legacy.
The private ceremony honoring Franklin on Friday will be held at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. Ms. Franklin died last week at age 76 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
