30 Years Later: Delta Flight 191 plane crash at DFW Airport

Sunday August 2, 2015 marks 30 years since a deadly plane crash at DFW Airport. It happened during a microburst storm, which we knew little about at the time.

Delta Airlines Flight 191 crashed just after 6:00 p.m. the night of August 2, 1985.

137 people died when the flight from Fort Lauderdale crashed at the north end of the airport.

The flight crew knew they were heading into a serious rain event, but technology then gave little warning of the developing wind shear.

29 people survived and the crash has since changed how the commercial air industry handles weather events.
