1 killed, 2 hurt after crash in Northpark Center parking garage

Dallas police say a man will be charged with manslaughter after he drove into two pedestrians, killing one of them in a Northpark Center parking garage.

The driver, 28-year-old Christopher Shaw, was hospitalized in critical condition.

The crash happened just after 10 p.m. Monday, on the second floor of the parking garage near Nordstrom.

Police say two men in their early 40s were walking in the parking garage as Shaw, who was driving at a high rate of speed in the garage, slammed into them. One of them was knocked out of the garage and onto the street below. The other victim, 42-year-old Yu Luo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the driver crashed his sedan into a concrete wall and was critically injured. Police have not released the condition of the second victim, but they say he is still hospitalized and is alert and talking.

Northpark Center released a statement saying, “our thoughts and sympathies go out to the victims and their families and will continue to work with police to further their investigation.”

Assuming he survives his injuries, police say the driver may face additional charges.
