1 dead in fiery tow truck crash on I-35
FORT WORTH, Texas - One person was killed Thursday morning when a tow truck caught fire on Interstate 35 in Fort Worth.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. on the interstate just south of Altamesa Boulevard.
The truck was towing a car and for some reason left the roadway. It ended up lodged on the median between the roadway and the exit ramp, and then it caught fire.
Witnesses said one person escaped through the driver’s side window. The person sitting on the passenger’s side was trapped in the fire.
Police confirmed one fatality and said the other person suffered only minor injuries. They did not release any details about the victim.
Traffic was diverted to the service road while police investigated the crash.
