HGTV giving away smart home in North Texas

There’s a house in North Texas filled with great ideas and products to make your life a little easier. And HGTV is giving it away.

The 2019 HGTV Smart Home in Roanoke is located about 20 miles north of Fort Worth in Denton County.

It’s a 3,400-square-foot, single-level Southern contemporary home with three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. Designer Tiffany Brooks tried to blend top tech with Texas style.

In the kitchen, specialized drawers have double storage capacity for things like flatware. A cutting board pulls out over composting trash can. Countertop appliances also pop up and slide back down when you are not using them.

The house has a media room, 3D movie theater, home office, playroom, master suite and a butler’s pantry to help keep all your guests entertained. Your K-Cups have never been so organized.

In the master bathroom, the tub actually heats itself. It gets warm so that the water always stays a consistent temperature. The steam shower has a panel that simulates real falling rain and the toilet opens on its own when you walk up to it.

The closet in the master bedroom has motorized rods to maximize every inch of storage space and an in-home dry cleaning system. Clothes are refreshed in just 10 minutes.

Outdoors there are grilling and gaming spaces, as well as areas for dining or just relaxing and watching a movie. But if the Texas heat or mosquitoes get to be just a little too much to handle, retractable screens from will pop up with just a touch of a button.
