Habitat for Humanity volunteers building home in Sundance Square
FORT WORTH, Texas - Trinity Habitat for Humanity volunteers in Fort Worth are helping to make a family’s dream come true.
The volunteers raised the ceremonial first wall on Janessa Leadley’s new home live on Good Day FOX 4 Tuesday morning. The home is being constructed in the center of Sundance Square Plaza.
Leadley was able to participate in the special moment. She is a single mother with two young boys and said the home will be the start of a new beginning.
“This moment is overwhelming. It’s heartwarming. I know this is going to be a better life for me and my boys. We get to have a family-oriented house, special occasions, just somewhere we can call our own home instead of being in some small space,” she said.
Leadley said her sons are also excited that they will finally get their own separate rooms, their own separate closets and a bathroom to share.
“I’m glad because they’re out of my bathroom,” she joked. “Being a sports mom, single mother, working at the post office 10 to 12 hours a day, I got it done. It is now time to see my home be built.”
The volunteers will work for the next five days to complete the framing, roofing, siding, windows and door installation.
Then the house will be moved to a neighborhood in Fort Worth for completion.
