DALLAS - Hundreds of cyclists will get on their bikes and ride up to 150 miles this weekend for this year’s Bike MS.
The goal of the event is to raise $1.7 million to help those living with multiple sclerosis and to fund research.
One North Texas man who is planning to ride with a national team called Meat Fight is Nick Strittmatter.
Strittmatter and his dad got involved with Bike MS when he was just 9 years old. His mother had just been diagnosed with MS.
Over the past 23 years, he’s raised more than $20,000 for the National MS Society. And now he’s getting his 9-year-old son Eli involved too.
Eli is still too young to ride but he’s helping to raise money.
“We started something last year called Meat Fight Jr. where all the kids whose parents did Meat Fight, they come and they ride their bikes around one of the Meat Fight sponsors and they raised money,” Eli said.
The Bike MSL Round-Up Ride starts Saturday in Frisco. The overnight location is at Lake Grapevine and the final finish line on Sunday is at Sundance Square in Fort Worth.
