Dallas weather: Chance of severe storms Thursday

FOX 4 meteorologist Ali Turiano takes a look at the forecast for Thursday when strong to severe storms are expected to move through the area.

North Texas could see some strong to severe storms on Thursday.

The storms are expected to make their way to our western areas around 8 a.m., move through the Metroplex from about 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and move out of our eastern counties at about 3 p.m.

The main storm risk is quarter-sized hail and possible 50 mph wind gusts.

Areas well east and southeast of Dallas, like Navarro, Van Zandt, Henderson, Freestone, Anderson counties, also have a slight tornado risk if we can get surface-based storms. 

The weather should dry out later in the day.

After Thursday's storms, things should stay dry North Texas.

Highs will climb into the 70s on Sunday and Monday before temperatures fall on Tuesday.
