Dallas weather: Temperatures expected to fall below freezing next week

If you've been waiting for it to feel like winter, next week is your week.

Make those outdoor plans for the next few days because temperatures will be much lower by the time Monday comes around.

Strong Cold Front to Bring Freezing Temperatures to North Texas

What We Know: The majority of the U.S. will see colder than normal temperatures next week.

In North Texas, a strong cold front will arrive sometime from Sunday afternoon to Sunday evening.

Along the front, we could see a couple of showers and rumbles in the first half of the day, but because the front is moving quickly, we aren't expecting much precipitation.

You will feel the cold immediately.

By Monday morning, most of us will be in the upper 20s and low 30s.

On Monday afternoon, we only expect to be in the upper 30s and low 40s.

We expect high temperatures in the low 40s and low temperatures in the high 20s through at least Wednesday of next week.

We've seen worse in January, but it is something to keep an eye on.

What We Don't Know: The exact timing of the cold front moving through is still up in the air. In the last 24 hours, forecast models show the front speeding up from what we previously thought.

Check back with FOX 4 as we get closer to Sunday.

7-Day Forecast

The good news is that we expect the weather to stay dry for the most part over the next week.
