There will be two storm systems coming this week, including one that could put a damper on your Christmas Eve plans.
Monday Forecast: Cloudy, Windy
South winds will suck up moisture from the Gulf on Monday.
Expect to see a lot of clouds, with a few breaks here and there, especially to the west.
High temperatures will reach the mid-60s, about ten degrees above average.
It will be breezy with winds between 12 and 22 miles per hour.
Rain chances look to be around 10 percent in the evening, but the odds are against anything measureable.
Christmas Eve Forecast: Showers, Storms
Our first storm system heads into Texas in the early hours of Christmas Eve.
We expect to see showers and some scattered storms in the early morning hours starting in the north.
It looks like it will be wet, with a couple rumbles of thunder from the morning to early afternoon hours.
There is a chance we could see some small hail, especially to the east and south in the afternoon to early evening hours.
Christmas Day Forecast: White Christmas? Keep Dreaming
By Christmas Day we expect the rain to be gone, with low clouds and some fog before we get breaks in the afternoon.
It will be a bit cooler as the light north winds switch to the east, but won't feel very much like Christmas.
High temperatures will sit around 60 on Wednesday, with lows in the 50s.
7-Day Forecast
The next storm system is expected to move in on Thursday.
At this point, we have our rain chances at 70%.
Those storms will be capable of up to quarter-sized hail and 50 mile per hour wind gusts. There is a risk for severe for parts of east Texas and southeast Texas.
Check back in closer to Thursday for more specific timing.
We could see some rain overnight Friday into Saturday, but overall the weekend looks great for traveling.
As of now, there are no real signs that we will see true winter air to end 2024 or even start 2025!
