Dallas weather: Flash Flood Warning issues for parts of North Texas on Christmas Eve

Some parts of North Texas are seeing heavy rain on Christmas Eve.

A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Dallas and Tarrant County until 2:30 p.m.

Radar estimates show more than 2 inches of rain has already fallen in some areas this morning.

Christmas Eve Forecast: Rain and storms

Tuesday's storms will ramp up quickly in the morning with expanding rain and some storms.

That means some heavier rain will be possible in the strongest storms.

By the afternoon, the heaviest rain will line up from the Metroplex east and south as the cold front drops down.

The worst case is that we could see some small hail and gusty winds, but also a flood risk.

Overall, the severe weather risk is low.

There could be patchy drizzle and some light rain out to the east late in the day.

North Texas Live Radar

Christmas Day Forecast: Mild, cloudy

We will wake up to relatively mild temperatures on Christmas morning. It will be near 50, but clammy with high humidity and lots of clouds.

It may be hard to break that cloud cover as we get an inversion layer in the afternoon.

It will keep us somewhat cool in the 50s.

Thursday Forecast: Storms, possible hail

The next strong system rapidly heads in on Thursday. A rapidly rotating pocket of cold air will have strong lift ahead of it.

Storms will quickly blow up in the morning to midday hours with hailstones up to the size of quarters and some gusty winds at more than 50 miles per hour.

Because of the deep surface moisture from the previous storm, these storms will be elevated.

That may not be the case to the south and east, so the worst of the storms could be in east Texas or southeast Texas.

The storms will exit in the afternoon.

7-Day Forecast

There is another disturbance headed in on Friday, but moisture will be limited for this one.

Temperatures are expected to return to the mid 60s under partly sunny skies and some lower shower chances.

By the weekend, we will get into Pacific air again. Even though a quick cold front will head through Saturday, there is nothing truly cold behind it, just a wind shift.

By Sunday and Monday we could see temperatures climb up to the 70s!
