Dallas police chief Eddie Garcia leaving for Austin

City leaders in Dallas were stunned to learn Dallas police chief Eddie Garcia will be retiring from his role as police chief in order to work as an assistant city manager in Austin. In May, Garcia had worked out a new deal with the city that was meant to keep him in Dallas through mid-2027.
