U.S. says it will sue Texas over SB4 enforcement

The U.S. Department of Justice has threatened to sue to stop a new Texas law that allows state police to arrest people suspected of illegally crossing the border — unless Gov. Greg Abbott backs off of enforcing the law.

Be it Arizona or Texas, border officials say the latest surge in migrant crossings shows no signs of letting up. Railroads are also demanding immediate changes after U.S. officials this past weekend closed two rail crossings in Texas to redirect border personnel to deal with the surge.
