SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Darius Anderson and Tahjon Starks combined for 39 points as Lancaster defended its Class 5A championship in a 67-64 win over Fort Bend Elkins on Saturday.
Anderson had 20 points and snagged MVP honors, while Starks had 19 for Lancaster (36-2) in a foul-filled contest that featured 52 combined infractions between the teams.
Lancaster never trailed after the first quarter, managing to survive a late push by Fort Bend Elkins (36-3).
Nate Morris' dunk with 22 seconds remaining pushed the lead to 66-61 and sealed the victory for Lancaster. Starks added a free throw with four seconds remaining before Fort Bend Elkins' last-second heave fell short.
Chad Bowie had a game-high 22 points for Fort Bend Elkins.
