Dallas Stars to open season at home vs. St. Louis

The Dallas Stars will open their season Thursday night at the American Airlines Center.

Dallas made it to the NHL’s Western Conference Finals last season. They’re hoping to repeat that success with some help from their young core including stars like Jason Robertson and Tyler Seguin.

Stars Foundation president and former Dallas Stars goalie Marty Turco joined Good Day Thursday morning to share his excitement about the new season.

"As an old goalie, I do have some superstitions. But you can't blame me anymore. Our team is good. We had a magical run that got cut a little bit short. But, you know, when you go watch tonight, it's going to look a lot similar," he said. "There's only three new players that are on the roster from last year. Matt Duchene most notably. He's a really skilled guy and super excited to be here. We're pumped to have him and Craig Smith too. I think he's going to be a fan favorite"

He's optimistic the team be a contender for the Stanley Cup.

"It should be a good run for us. We're pretty excited. It's a hard league. That's all I tell people. It's just a hard league to win in, and we have a team that can do some real good damage. Ad we want to get back to the playoffs," he said.

Turco said the team has sold more jerseys so far this year than at this point in any prior seasons.

"You're going to see a lot more green around this town for a long, long time," he said.

Tickets for Thursday night's game are already sold out.  All Platinum Level season tickets are also sold out.

The puck drops at the AAC at 7 p.m.
