72-year-old in East Oak Cliff fatally shot
There is anger and disbelief from the family of a 72-year-old Dallas grandmother who was killed inside her home by possible random gunfire. Bullets from outside came through the window. Even at 72 years of age, Paula Rivera never slowed down.
DALLAS - There is anger and disbelief from the family of a 72-year-old Dallas grandmother who was killed inside her home by possible random gunfire. Bullets from outside came through the window.
Even at 72 years of age, Paula Rivera never slowed down.
The grandmother lost her life. However, Sunday night, due to what her family believes to be random gunfire.
Rivera’s daughter, Maria Becerra, was at their home off Marfa Avenue in South Dallas when two bullets shot through her family’s kitchen.
One bullet struck her mother while she was cooking dinner.
"I can’t live life without her. I’m so attached to her. So attached to her," she said. "My son is so attached to her. He kept screaming, ‘Don’t leave me! I need you! Please don’t leave me. I need you!’"

45-year-old Stephanie Whitlock is in critical condition after being run over by the car. Dallas Police are sharing video in hope that someone recognizes the vehicle.
The Dallas Police Department is investigating. The department chose not to answer FOX 4’s questions Wednesday afternoon about the shooting, but Maria family says detectives are being transparent.
"They’re like, ‘We’re working on it, we’re getting footage,’" she said.
Rivera’s family says there was a large gathering at a field in their neighborhood when the shooting took place. They believe the shooting may have stemmed from that get-together.

Family believes random gunfire killed 72-year-old
A Dallas family is looking for answers after their grandmother was shot and killed while cooking in her own home. They believe random gunfire sent bullets through the kitchen. FOX 4's Shannon Murray has the latest on the investigation.
Rivera and her husband lived with Becerra, her husband and their 10-year-old son.
The Dallas police department asks that you give them a call if you have any information about what may have happened.
