What we Know:

One person was killed, and several others are in critical condition after a multi-vehicle crash in Arlington early Saturday morning.

Police responded to reports of pedestrians struck following a crash in the 300 block of N. Watson Road near Division Street around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Officers found two people lying in the street after being hit by a car and a woman inside a vehicle involved in the crash.

Dig Deeper:

Investigators say a 42-year-old woman lost control of her 2016 Hyundai Veloster while driving along N. Watson Road and drove off the road. She called family members for help at the scene.

Tyler White, 31, arrived in his 2004 GMC SUV, activated his hazard lights, and pulled over in the far-right lane. He exited his vehicle to assist the woman.

While White and the woman were getting a cable from White’s SUV, a speeding BMW X1 struck them and the SUV.

First responders found White and the woman lying in the street. Both were transported to a local hospital, where White died. The woman remains in critical condition.

Officials also removed the BMW’s driver, a 34-year-old woman, from her vehicle. She was taken to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.

What we don't know:

The exact cause of the crash is unclear, though Arlington police believe alcohol may have been involved.

Police have not released the identities of the BMW driver or the other injured woman.
