ARLINGTON, Texas - Two teen brothers are dead and a third teen was injured in a Friday shooting at an Arlington apartment complex.
Arlington police say it started with an argument at a barbershop which escalated to gunfire at a nearby apartment complex.
The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Artisan at Rush Creek Apartments off Sublett Road.
Police say it started a group of teens arguing outside a nearby barbershop. An adult tried to stop it and called 911. The group of teens then ran to the apartment complex and started shooting.
Family members say siblings 13-year-old Josh Williams and 17-year-old Kaleb Williams were killed in the shooting.
Police saw a vehicle leaving quickly from the scene and made a traffic stop. Inside, they found a third teen who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital.
Police say they found a firearm where the two teens were found on the sidewalk and a second firearm ditched behind a building.
Witnesses told police they saw two teenagers hopping fences moments after the gunfire.
Kimberla Washington and Mariah Williams both rushed to the scene to find out their two nephews, Josh and Kaleb, were now gone to gun violence.
"You can’t process that," Washington said.
"You can’t. It’s untouchable." "They were kids," Maria said. "That’s what I am saying, and nobody knows what happened."
"This is senseless gun violence," said Arlington Police Lt. Chris Cook. "We just held a press conference earlier this weekend about kids and their access to guns. This is a huge issue for us and a big concern."
Eunice Hill says her heart dropped when she pulled up. She and both of her 16-year-old grandsons live nearby.
"I am so glad they weren’t down here because they usually be down here," she said.
The family is left with questions while grieving the loss of two young lives.
"Never thought this would happen," Washington said.
"They were great kids," Mariah said.
The third victim’s condition is unknown. Police say he is 16 or 17 years old.
At this time, police say no one is in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
