DALLAS - Trick or treaters were out in full force Sunday night after the pandemic forced many families to skip the tradition last year.
The mile-long Swiss Avenue Historic District in Old East Dallas was flooded with thousands of trick-or-treaters.
There were none last year when Swiss Avenue canceled the tradition for the first time in three decades.
This year, the Centers for Disease Control gave the all-clear.
Families were excited to be back at it.
"Sugar is my life. I can’t live without it," a young trick-or-tricker said.
"We want to enjoy this with our son tonight," said Manny Lopez. "Lot of kids and families here, especially with last year not a lot of people got to do it."
The president of the Swiss Avenue Historic District Association said before 2020, the neighborhood would usually get about 3,000 to 5,000 trick-or-treaters on Halloween.
She estimates about 4,000 kids stopped at her house this year.
