Train derailment causes traffic trouble in Haslet

Workers are cleaning up after a train derailment in Haslet, in Tarrant County.

A train derailment in Haslet, north of Fort Worth in Tarrant County, caused traffic trouble Monday morning.

The accident happened at around 6 a.m. Monday near the intersection of FM 156 and Avondale-Haslet Road.

BNSF said three empty cars derailed at the Alliance Intermodal Facility.

There were no injuries to any crew.

The derailment happened in a neighborhood near a Northwest ISD  elementary school. That caused problems for some parents trying to drop off their kids.

Officials urged people to seek alternative routes and avoid the area if possible.

Avondale-Haslet Road reopened at 8:54 a.m.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
