Trackdown: Help find Quincy Sibley's killer

This week, Dallas police need help to track down a killer who murdered a man in an apartment complex in broad daylight.

Surveillance video caught one of the men believed to have been involved in the murder of 34-year-old Quincy Sibley on May 6. He was killed at Hampton Greens Apartments on Wood Meadow Parkway in Northeast Dallas.

Police say Sibley answered a knock at his door before gunfire erupted.

A man seen on video in a white shirt, jean shorts and red tennis shoes is one of a group that Dallas Homicide Detective Tanya McDaniel needs a name for. There's also a group of other guys that police know were part of the violence that day.

“It’s always a challenge, but It’s worth the challenge to catch somebody bad to get them off the streets,” McDaniel said. “He was a dad, a husband, a brother, a son. You name it. That’s what he was.”

Sibley was in the apartment he had recently leased at the Hampton Greens Apartments.

“It was about 4:45 p.m. It was a Sunday afternoon in broad daylight,” McDaniel said. “There was a knock on the door. Quincy opened the door. All of a sudden, there were shots fired.” 

The apartment complex cameras were clear but were far away. They show a man in a white t-shirt, jean shorts and red tennis shoes as he runs away from the apartment after the shooting.

“When they see them on the video, they’re going to look and say ‘I know who that is.’ And they can call and give me that specific person’s name,” McDaniel said.

The suspect walks around for a minute and then runs out of the complex. McDaniel feels like they can break this case because the guy in the red tennis shoes was not alone.

“There was more than one individual, probably 5 or 4, maybe more coming in and out of this building,” the detective said. “So we know for sure that there are plenty of people who know about this incident that know about this murder.”

The man in the red tennis shoes returned to the complex after running out.

“From what I saw, no one was hooded. No one had a mask on. Just bold in broad daylight. Very bold in what they did,” McDaniel said.

McDaniel says there were witnesses, but they gave all the information they could. She needs more information to catch the killer and hopes the public can give it to her.

“You’re talking about murder. That’s a human life that was taken, and it doesn’t get any more serious than that,” the detective said. “And to hold on to that information is something that you should not do.”
