Trackdown: Help find the Carrollton 'GameStop Grinch'

Police say their suspect, decked out in all green, acted as if he was going to buy a PS5 but then walked out without paying and told the workers, "Don't follow me or I'll kill you."

Carrollton police are trying to find the man who ripped off a GameStop store last week and threatened employees.

FOX 4’ Shaun Rabb has the surveillance video of the ‘GameStop Grinch’ in this week's Trackdown.

It happened on Dec. 10 at the GameStop on North Josey Lane in Carrollton.

"A gentleman walked in and asked to see a PlayStation 5," explained Carrollton Police Det. Brandon Bonner. "He spoke with the clerks for a few minutes. And as he was looking at it, he acted as if he was going to pay for it. Then, he placed it under his arm and walked out. As he was leaving, he made a threat to them. He said, ‘Don't follow me or I'll kill you.’"

The detective says surveillance cameras captured plenty of images of the robber since he was in the store for about 30 minutes.

"He walks in and talks to the clerks. He talks to them about different games and things that he's looking at. And then he asked to charge his phone for a little bit, which they allowed him to do up there on the counter," he said. "Then, they bring out a PlayStation 5, which he asked to see. And he looks at it for a while and mulls it over. And then before you know it, as he's pretending to pay for it, he just places it under his arm and walks out the door, and then turns around and threatens them."

Garland robbery suspect identified after being featured on FOX 4's Trackdown

Garland Police have identified a robbery suspect featured on Shaun Rabb's weekly Trackdown segment.

The bearded man is being dubbed ‘the GameStop Grinch’ due to his clothing. He was wearing all green sweats at the time and a green beanie with a skull.

"I think if someone saw him, they would likely recognize him based off his mannerisms and facial features," said Bonner said. "We would like to be able to hold someone accountable and make sure our citizens, our staff, our people here, employees are safe."
