A tour bus hit a low overpass in Ennis Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. on Baylor Street. Investigators said the driver was only going about 25 miles per hour, but hit a train trestle and smashed the top front of the bus.

The bus was carrying about 30 senior citizens who were going to the Bluebonnet Festival. At least eight were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.

The Cedar Hill Fire Department sent a medical bus to the scene to evaluate the passengers. The Red Cross also responded to offer services.

Residents in the area say the overpass is low. This is not the first time it’s been hit.
