Fort Worth police confirm a body was found inside a vacant home on the southwest side of the city Wednesday afternoon.

Neighbors told FOX 4 police have been at the house in the 6400 block of Woodway Drive since Tuesday afternoon. They’ve seen detectives going in and out with shovels and masks on.

The neighbors said they also heard what sounded like a jackhammer being used to break up concrete. At one point a Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office van pulled into the home’s backyard.

"Was like they're probably digging something up, maybe a body or something buried there. Money, drugs... never know these days. Worst come to mind somebody buried there or somebody's been dead," said Crystal Guerra, a neighbor.

Fort Worth police said detectives found the body while helping police in Arlington check out a tip. The Arlington Police Department said it got the tip while investigating a double murder.

Police didn't say if the body was buried or concealed. The medical examiner hasn't yet revealed an identity or cause of death.

The house on Woodway Drive has been empty for the past five or six months, but neighbors said they’ve seen people coming and going as if they were renovating it.
