Third arrest made in Deep Ellum DART mob attack

A third suspect was arrested Monday for the beating attack on a DART light rail train and platform more than a week ago.

A juvenile girl, seen in a video of the incident wearing red, was taken into custody by DART Police on Monday and booked into the Henry Wade Juvenile Detention Center. It wasn't immediately known what charges she will face.

Video taken by a witness shows Kennan Jones being punched and kicked by a group of people on the Green Line DART train on July 30. He told FOX 4 the mob started beating him because he told them to put out the marijuana they were smoking inside the train. The brutal beating continued on to the platform at the Deep Ellum station.

Two other suspects seen on the video are already in custody.

Remon Hendrix, 23, was arrested around last Friday at Target Cityplace across the street from the Whataburger where he and his brother worked. Police said Remon Hendrix was spotted as he showed up for work. He is charged with assault causing bodily injury, a misdemeanor.

Remon is the older brother of Jakobi Darion Hendrix, who was arrested last Thursday. He's charged with felony aggravated assault for using a skateboard to beat Jones.

DART police say they identified some of the suspects in the attack and are working to identify the rest. A third Hendrix brother is wanted by authorities.

DART has previously said it is increasing its police presence during the evening at the Deep Ellum and Baylor stations and are actively patrolling the other stations.
