A middle school student in The Colony brought a loaded semi-automatic pistol to school on Monday.
The Colony police said an eighth grade boy carried a handgun into Griffin Middle School.
A classmate texted a relative about the gun and that person called the school. An assistant principal called police after removing the suspect from class.
Police say the loaded gun was found in his backpack. No one was hurt.
“There weren't any threats that we know of, no motive other than being in possession of it. We don't know that there were any ulterior motives,” said Sgt. Jay Goodson.
No one was hurt. The Colony police arrested the student and he was taken to police headquarters. The student will reportedly be charged for bringing a firearm to a school.
