MARTINDALE, Texas - Officials say it appears the death of a Texas State University student found under a shuttle bus at an off-campus site where a fraternity party had been held was an accident.
Guadalupe County Sheriff Arnold Zwicke said Monday that an autopsy showed Jordin Taylor's cause of death to be consistent with being struck and dragged by the bus. Officials found she was dragged over 500 feet.
The body of the 20-year-old from Burleson was found Saturday afternoon beneath the bus at a music and tubing site near Martindale.
Zwicke says the bus developed mechanical problems Friday night and crews that went back to fix it found Taylor's body.
"Right now the preliminary investigation shows that the victim came into contact with the bus somehow, we're unsure of how but was struck by the left rear wheel and was drug over 500 feet," said Zwicke.
Texas State spokesman Matt Flores says Taylor was a freshman majoring in respiratory care. She belonged to the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
