Texas A&M to build new research center in Fort Worth

Fort Worth has a new nickname: Aggieland North.

Texas A&M and the city announced plans to build a downtown research campus called the Texas A&M System Research and Innovation Center.

The university system owns four blocks downtown and also released plans for a law school and new education building where conferences would be held.

Former Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price spoke about the deal that included a quick flight down to College Station.

"I said, ‘Bobby, you will never move this law school out of Fort Worth, and I think John told you the same thing.’ And Bobby said, ‘Okay, how about we move A&M to Fort Worth?’" she recalled.

Key parts of the plan still need approval by the Fort Worth City Council and Tarrant County commissioners.
