A young, terminally-ill wrestling fan’s dreams came true after a surprise visit from one of his favorite WWE wrestlers. But the Cleburne-native’s special surprise didn’t stop there.
Colby Tutt, 13, loves wrestling. He plays the video games and has action figures of all his favorites. But, Colby has been chronically ill since he was born when he weighed just 1lb. 3 oz.
This week, he got the surprise of his life as WWE wrestler Eric Rowan paid a surprise visit to his home in Cleburne. WrestleMania has also arranged for a limo to pick up Colby and his family to take him to the event on Sunday in Arlington.
Because of Colby’s health, some days are better than others but he’s determined to make it to WrestleMania. His family had tickets for Colby last year, but he was in the hospital and wasn’t able to attend.
His mom, Danita Tutt, says doctors have been doing everything they can for Colby, but they’ve started to run out of options.
“There's no magic surgery,” Danita said. “There's no magic medicine.”
Danita says she and her husband decided to bring Colby home for hospice care instead living out his days in a hospital room.
“We decided to put him on hospice,” explained Danita. “Let him do treatments at home so we, my other son and my husband could be a family.”
Danita describes Colby as a sweet, loving child who loves everyone and looks for all the good in people. Friends, who heard about Colby on social media and his wish to go to WrestleMania, came together to make the young boy very happy.
"I hadn't seen that smile in so long,” said Danita. “You take for granted the little things. That smile is priceless, and that will forever be embedded in my mind."
The family says Colby’s younger brother is also ill with a rare long disease. They have set up a GoFundMe page for the kids’ medical expenses.
