Fort Worth police have a juvenile in custody for hitting a kid on his bike and driving off.

The victim's mother says she hopes the suspect "rots" in jail.

8-Year-old Josiah "Jojo" Dunn is still recovering at Cook Children’s Hospital on Tuesday after a hit-and-run outside of his home on Saturday evening.

Ring camera video captured JoJo riding his bicycle in the street with his older brother. Twenty seconds later, you can hear the moment a pickup truck smashed into JoJo’s bike and took off.

The boy’s mother, Amiee Johnson, says she rushed outside to find the bike mangled and JoJo’s body limp.

"Blood everywhere. All over. He’s bleeding from different parts," she recalled.

JoJo was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center with extensive injuries.

Amiee says she and her neighbors spent the weekend tracking down the truck and the driver. They even put pressure on police for an arrest, protesting Monday afternoon. By Monday evening, there was an arrest.

Police released no other details and won’t because the suspect is a juvenile.

"You ran over an 8-year-old that’s the size of a 5-year-old, and you kept going," Amiee said. "He needs to rot in jail."

JoJo has multiple injuries and a long recovery ahead.

"He’s going to have to learn how to walk again," his mom said. "He’s a sweetheart, he’s a lover and he’s a fighter, too."
