Target no longer accepting personal checks beginning next week

Target announced it’s making a major change to its payment policies that could affect some at the checkout experience.

As of July 15, the major retailer will no longer accept personal checks as a form of payment.

A spokesperson told FOX Television Stations that the decision was made "due to extremely low volumes."

"We have taken several measures to notify guests in advance to aid an easy and efficient checkout experience," the spokesperson added.

The announcement comes in the midst of the return of Target’s Circle Week, where new deals are announced every day.

Target Circle Cards (formerly known as target RedCard)
Cash
Digital wallets
SNAP/EBT
Buy now, pay later services
Credit and debit cards

Target prices

Earlier this year, Target announced it was cutting prices on thousands of consumer basics this summer, including goods ranging from diapers to milk.

The move comes as more Americans are paying closer attention to their spending as inflation continues to cut into household budgets.

Target also announced earlier this year a new brand collection called Dealworthy which includes nearly 400 basic items, ranging from clothing to electronics, that can cost less than $1, with most items under $10.
