SUV crashes into Dallas fire engine protecting emergency vehicles on I-30

Dallas County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating after an SUV crashed into a fire engine that was on scene of another crash on I-30 early Saturday morning.

The wreck happened just before 5 a.m., in the westbound lanes of the interstate, near N. Hampton Road.

The fire engine was blocking traffic due to another crash, when the driver of a dark SUV slammed into the back of the fire engine.

The male driver was pinned inside after the wreck.

Firefighters were able to get him out, and he was taken to a hospital. His condition was not released.

No firefighters were injured.

It’s unclear if any charges will be filed.
