DALLAS - State troopers arrested a suspected drunk driver for a crash that killed one of three good Samaritans on the Dallas North Tollway early Friday morning.
Graham Sinclair is charged with intoxication manslaughter for the wreck, which officials say happened just after 2:30 a.m., near Forest Ln. on the tollway.
The crash scene was so extensive, accident investigators shut down all northbound lanes of the tollway for hours to collect evidence.
Investigators say the chain of events began when the driver of a Jeep Wrangler lost control on the northbound side of the tollway and hit a concrete barrier, leaving the vehicle disabled in the far right lane.
A black Nissan with three people inside stopped, and two men got out. As they were trying to help the driver of the Jeep, DPS said a white Subaru Legacy hit the Jeep, and both vehicles caught on fire.
One of the good Samaritans died in the crash. The other person who got out of the Nissan was taken to Parkland with serious injuries.
State troopers said the third person who never got out of the Nissan was not hurt.
The names of the good Samaritans have not yet been released because DPS is still working to contact their families, who are in another country.
As of 4:30 p.m., the good Samaritan taken to Parkland in still in serious condition.
The driver of the Subaru, Sinclair, was not injured in the crash. He was booked into the Dallas County Jail on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
Sinclair does not appear to have a criminal record beyond the intoxication manslaughter charge he faces.
Troopers are still trying to determine what caused the Jeep to crash in the first place. That driver was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a blood sample was taken from the driver of the Jeep as well.
