DeSoto police have arrested a 29-year-old man for the murder of an 81-year-old man.

A tip from a television viewer led to the arrest of Milton Davis III on Monday afternoon.

Investigators said T.G. Grady was stalked and shot to death outside his home earlier this month. They described his murder as savage, cruel and even evil.

"This is probably one of the most cold-blooded murders we've worked. I mean it affected all of us, we wanted to catch this guy," said DeSoto PD Sgt. Chris Huerta.

Video shows the suspect run right up to Grady’s truck, reached to get something and opened fire on the unarmed man.

The arrest affidavit says cell phone records put Davis in the area of Grady's home and leaving the area after the murder. Investigators do not believe Davis knew Grady, but as detectives canvas the neighborhood for days they came to know Grady themselves.

"He was a wonderful man. He got along with everybody. He was very selfless," said Det. Erin Blust.

Grady’s wife, Thelma, found him dead. She said he didn’t deserve to be murdered.

"He always tried to help everybody. And for somebody to go and do him that way…,” she said.
