MESQUITE, Texas - A man who led police on a chase and then barricaded himself in a vehicle Monday morning is now in custody.
Mesquite police said officers were initially called to a home in the 4300 block of Flamingo Drive to check out a report about an assault.
The officer later spotted the suspect, identified as Luis Alvarado-Hernandez, and tried to pull him over. They chased him into Dallas and then back to Flamingo Drive in Mesquite.
A tactical team was called in because Alvarado-Hernandez refused to get out of his vehicle. They eventually talked him into surrendering peacefully, police said.
Alvarado-Hernandez is now facing charges for aggravated assault and evading arrest.
