Student arrested for threatening North Forney High School
FORNEY, Texas - A 15-year-old was arrested after allegedly threatening to “shoot up a school” in Kaufman County, east of Dallas.
According to inForney.com, classmates overhead the student make the threat against North Forney High School. They told their parents and at least one called police.
"He was saying, 'I'll just shoot up the school.' And he said he doesn't care if he goes to jail for killing someone," said Jamond Stallworth, who attends North Forney High School.
The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office started investigating and interviewed witnesses. They took the student into custody around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
He is now facing charges for the exhibition of a firearm. The sheriff’s office said that charge applies to threats and doesn’t necessarily mean there was a gun at school.
"You certainly don't think it's going to hit this close to home to you. And when it's this close, having two children who go to school here... I never would've believed something like this would happen this close to home," said Mark Stafford, a parent.
North Forney High School said on its Facebook page that all threats are taken seriously, but that this particular situation has been resolved and students are no longer in any danger.
Extra security was on hand Wednesday to reassure students and parents.
