Good Day tries the Dominican Fritura Dog
The winner in the Best Savory category for this year's Big Tex Choice Awards is a fritura cheese and Dominican salami corn dog that's split open and topped with garlic plantain chips, cilantro, and a special sauce. The creators call it a salty and sweet explosion of Dominican flavor.
Best Savory went to Justin Martinez for his Dominican Fritura dog.
This unique Caribbean treat combines crispy Dominican queso frito and salami frito coated in seasoned corn dog batter. It's then deep-fried, drizzled with a secret Dominican sauce, and topped with crushed garlic plantain chips and cilantro.

Good Day tries Cotton Candy Bacon
With the State Fair of Texas just weeks away, Good Day is previewing another one of the Big Tex Choice Awards winners. Cotton Candy Bacon won in the Best Taste - Sweet category.
Best Sweet went to Issac and Joseph Rousso. The father-son duo won over the judges with their Rousso’s Cotton Candy on a Stick.
"We are playing with a thick piece of bacon. We wanted something especially unique. And we were like, what if we just brought something so iconic like cotton candy into the picture," Issac said. "So we ordered a cotton candy machine, got the bacon, started playing with it, and we were like, ‘Oh my god. This is incredible!’"
Rousso's Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick by Isaac Rousso
It's officially described as honey-smoked bacon on a stick that's cooked with a special seasoning and secret cotton candy syrup glaze. It's then finished with a swirl of pink cotton candy.
The Roussos promise you it will be the most unique piece of bacon you've ever eaten.

Good Day tries Texas Sugar Rush Pickles
This morning, we're trying another one of the 2024 Big Tex Choice Awards winners. The Texas Sugar Rush Pickles won in the Most Creative category. It's a cup of cotton candy-flavored pickle slices with cereal, cotton candy, vanilla ice cream, and strawberry syrup.
Most Creative went to Heather Perkins with her Texas Sugar Rush Pickles.
For this unique concoction, cotton-candy-flavored pickle slices are coated in Lucky Charms, Froot Loops and Cap’n Crunch cereal. It’s then layered in cotton candy, sugar crystals and powdered sugar before being drizzled with a strawberry sundae syrup. On top of all that, a scoop of vanilla rounds out the creative treat.
