The State Fair of Texas’s rodeo is making a big comeback after being away for more than two decades.

The rodeo is happening this weekend at the Coliseum at Fair Park. People came come out to see the classic competitions and performances featuring horses and longhorns.

There will also be a unique “Bucking Broncos” competition featuring five female riders who will go up against the men.

The event is back at the fair for the first time in 23 years.

“In 1959 the national finals rodeo hosted for the first time at the coliseum. That’s exciting for the contestants because they’re competing where history was made here in this very arena,” said announcer TC Long.

The rodeo runs Friday and Saturday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and first event, Mutton Bustin, starts at 6:30 p.m. Parents can sign their children up to participate on site.
