Small crowd of baseball fans brave raging temperatures in Arlington
Baseball fans braved extreme heat to watch the Rangers take on the Indians on Sunday.
“It’s hot! I can tell you that. I’m not really used to it,” said Indians fan Brice Jejune.
While most people looked for shady seats, some were brave enough to sit in the sun.
“Oh man it’s toasty. It’s going to be really humid I feel bad for the players. It’s going to be a hot day,” said Rangers fan Danny Washington.
It was Tom Hamilton‘s first Rangers baseball game. He went with a friend.
“I’m from Knoxville so it’s a little more humid there but this is much hotter, so we’re trying to get used to it, my wife and I,” he said.
“It’s really tough if you’re not used to it and they should be giving out free water right now because some dudes are going to pass out. But it’s tough, it’s really tough,” said Phillip Cornet.
Rob Matwick oversees the business operations at the stadium and makes sure they have enough first responders and cooling stations on hot days like these.
“To us, the extreme heat is just the same way we would treat a tornado watch or severe thunderstorm watch,” he said.
“When you get here, we’ve informed our staff that if someone’s in the sun and it’s really too much for them move them up into the shade,” said Matwick.
